Lilian Amazons made an impressive start in the women’s division of the Fiji Bitter Labasa 7s, finishing day one undefeated in the tournament. Their opening match showcased resilience as they secured a narrow 17–12 victory against the Seahawks, followed by a close 12–10 win over Ezers Women.

Team captain Laisa Seru emphasized the tournament’s developmental aspect, highlighting the participation of several young players aged 16 and 17, who are experiencing their first significant sevens tournament. Seru expressed the team’s aim to provide these young athletes a platform to showcase their talents and gain valuable experience, contributing to a hopeful outlook for a competitive event.

The opening round of matches featured a few surprises, notably Loloma Heights Women from Savusavu, who managed to upset Ezers Women with a 5–0 victory. Tagimoucia Ranadi emerged as a strong contender, recording one win and one draw, while Kasabias Sinukalala maintained a presence in the mix with similar results.

In the first round, the results included Loloma Heights defeating Ezers Women 5–0, the Lilian Amazons overcoming the Seahawks 17–12, and Tagimoucia Ranadi drawing 5–5 against Kasabias Sinukalala, while Kadavu Stallion delivered a dominant performance with a 24–0 win over Vuna Sisters.

As the competition continues, Lilian Amazons will face Ezers Women again in their final pool matches today, with anticipation high for more thrilling performances. The tournament represents not only a competitive challenge but also an opportunity for young players to grow and shine on a larger stage.
