The Public Service Commission (PSC) has confirmed a significant reshuffle involving three key Permanent Secretaries, effective February 3, 2025, as part of an initiative to enhance leadership across essential ministries. In a move that underscores the government’s commitment to optimizing administrative effectiveness, Dr. Raijeli Taga will transition from her current position at the Office of the Prime Minister to take over as Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Dr. Lesikimacuata Korovavala, who currently oversees the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will be reappointed as the Permanent Secretary for the Office of the Prime Minister. In addition to this role, he will also serve as the Acting Permanent Secretary for Immigration, under the direct supervision of the Minister of Immigration.

Mr. Manasa Lesuma, the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Housing, has recently expanded his responsibilities by assuming the role of Acting Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Policing since January 14, 2025.

Chairman of the PSC, Luke Rokovada, emphasized that these changes are part of a broader effort by the government to strengthen leadership structures and ensure that ministries are led by individuals who possess the required expertise and vision. This strategic realignment aims to create a more efficient and effective public service.

This reshuffle reflects ongoing efforts to address concerns about workload distribution among government officials. By reinvigorating leadership roles, the administration hopes to enhance accountability and responsiveness to the needs of the nation, paving the way for improved service delivery.

Overall, these adjustments not only aim to optimize government functions but also highlight the rising significance of local talent in public service management, signaling a hopeful future for efficient governance in Fiji.
