A 54-year-old man from Lautoka is currently hospitalized following a brutal assault at his Saweni home earlier this week, leaving his family in a state of distress and fear. The victim, Rosan Ali, was reportedly attacked by a group of men who arrived in a twin cab and another vehicle. In a harrowing moment, his daughter, Imrana Simran Ali, escaped from a moving car amidst what she believes was an attempted kidnapping, managing to flee to safety.
According to family members, the assault was sudden and unprovoked, with no clear reason identified for why Rosan was targeted. His brother, Yusuf Ali, described the situation, indicating that more than five individuals were involved in the attack. In an unsettling twist, Imrana revealed that a family friend believed to be among the suspects had previously contacted her with an invitation for drinks, a proposal she declined.
Imrana recounted how chaos erupted, describing the moment she saw her father being attacked after she escaped. She quickly sought help from a nearby friend and attempted to alert the family for assistance, but by the time help arrived, Rosan had already been taken away by the aggressors.
The situation escalated when a local resident notified the police. A chase ensued, led by the victim’s nephew, which resulted in police intercepting the vehicle near Saweni Mosque. Authorities confirmed that three suspects were arrested in connection with the incident, and investigations are ongoing as they work to uncover the motive behind this violent assault.
Rosan Ali remains in the hospital as the family grapples with the aftermath of the attack. The community stands in solidarity with the family during this trying time, hoping for a resolution that brings justice and peace back into their lives.
