Labasa FC’s head coach Alvin Chand expressed pride in his team’s performance despite a narrow defeat in the Pillay Garments Champion vs Champion Series, losing to Rewa FC by a 1-0 aggregate score. In the second and final leg, held at Subrail Park, Labasa managed to secure a 0-0 draw, but it was not enough to overturn their previous loss from the first leg.

Chand commended his players for their fighting spirit, especially in front of their home crowd, as they matched the defending champions, Rewa, throughout the contest. He acknowledged the commitment demonstrated by his team, stating, “I’m proud of my boys. They gave everything out there and showed real commitment, but unfortunately, the first-leg result made the difference.”

The Babasiga Lions pushed energetically in search of a goal that would have equalized the aggregate score, but Rewa’s disciplined defence held firm, ultimately securing the title for the Delta Tigers.

Despite falling short of the desired trophy, Chand remains optimistic, noting that the strong performance in the second leg bodes well for the season ahead. The resilience, discipline, and determination exhibited by his squad against one of the nation’s top teams indicate promising potential for future matches. This experience, while bittersweet, has provided valuable lessons that can propel Labasa FC as they look to build on this season’s campaign.
