Attention all umbrella owners and lovers of rainy days: the Northern Division and Lau Group are in for a heavy rain fest! Yes, it’s that time again – time to embrace the great indoors unless you want to audition for “Dancing in the Rain.”

What’s brewing? An active trough of low pressure has taken up residence over the northern and eastern parts of the country and is planning to stick around a bit longer than an uninvited guest. This gloomy cloud cover is expected to waddle eastward and find a cozy spot just northeast of us by tomorrow. Wind-wise, expect a cheeky mix of southwesterly to northwesterly winds.

So, what’s in store for the rest of our lovely Fiji group until midnight tomorrow? Prepare for occasional rain, with some moments of heavy downpours and the occasional lightning show in the Northern Division and Lau group – just enough to make you think twice about your selection of footwear. Rain should ease up by tomorrow, but don’t pack away that raincoat just yet!

In other areas like Serua-Namosi, Sigatoka, Nadi-Lautoka-Ba, Tavua-Rakiraki, and even the interior regions of Ba and Nadroga-Navosa, expect a friendly wave of cloudy periods with some showers. Feeling lucky? Isolated heavy falls are on the table, which may lead to some unexpected puddles ready to surprise you when you least expect it!

To all you sailors out there, beware! Moderate to fresh winds and moderate to rough seas might have you reconsidering that sunset cruise. So, unless you’re up for a ride, keep the anchor down!

Looking ahead to Wednesday, we can see some cloudy periods with showers creeping in over Macuata and Northern Bua, which sounds like a fine excuse to stay in your jammies. The rest of the spots will continue to see some clouds and a sprinkle of showers with a potential for afternoon or evening surprises.

And for those in Navua, Suva, and Nausori: good news! You might find some spots of sunshine sneaking through, but don’t forget to keep your eyes peeled for those sneaky afternoon showers that love to make an entrance.

In Nadi, Lautoka, Ba, Tavua, Rakiraki, Yasawa, Mamanuca, and Labasa, the same déjà vu unfolds with cloudy periods and a bit of shower action.

Savusavu, you’ve got rain coming in but fear not; it will ease up soon enough! And for those in Kadavu, it’ll be a similar story with clouds and a sprinkle of showers likely.

And let’s not forget about Rotuma: it’s looking like it’s in for a bit of excitement with occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms later this week. Make sure you keep a tab on the weather if you had plans that involve outdoor picnics!

That’s your weather scoop – grab your umbrellas and enjoy the splashes, but let’s hope it doesn’t become a river adventure in your backyard!
