Ablaze Netball Club has showcased remarkable progress following their Australian tour, culminating in a commendable victory over Tiki Mokosoi in the fourth round of the NewWorld Suva Netball Association 2025 club competition. The match, held at the National Netball Centre in Laucala, concluded with Ablaze Red securing a 19-15 win.

The tour saw participation from 60 club members across various youth categories, including under-13, under-15, and under-18 players. For many, it was their inaugural experience with air travel, which the club highlighted as a significant opportunity provided through their engagement with netball.

Filomena Korovulavula, the club’s president and a former Fiji National Netball representative, emphasized the transformative impact of the tour on the players’ development. “I have seen a lot of improvement in their game structure and confidence, particularly for those in the development grade who gained invaluable experience playing against overseas teams,” she noted.

Korovulavula expressed her pride in the team’s performance and looked ahead to defend their title from the previous year, illustrating their ambitions within the competition. She also pointed out the necessity for a clear vision for the future of netball in Fiji, urging local governing bodies to focus on player development and strategic planning.

The achievements of Ablaze Netball Club serve as a beacon of hope, showcasing how sports can empower young athletes, instill confidence, and offer opportunities for growth both on and off the court. With continued support and development, there is optimism for the future of netball in Fiji.
