The Divisional Commissioner for the Western Division, Apolosi Lewaqai, has announced that efforts are underway to distribute food rations to 61 families currently residing in evacuation centers. This initiative is particularly focused on areas in Nadi, including Andrews Primary School, Saioni Church, Korovuto Secondary School, and the Vou Dance Group Office.
Commissioner Lewaqai stated that food rations are provided to evacuees within 48 hours of their evacuation as per established guidelines. The teams are currently preparing food packages for the displaced families and aim to complete the distribution within the day.
Additionally, Lewaqai highlighted that emergency operations centers will remain operational due to forecasts of continued rainfall throughout the weekend. This emphasizes the ongoing support and vigilance of local authorities during adverse weather conditions.
