Wednesday 29/01 – Flood warning remains for parts of country

Flash Flood Alerts Sound Across Fiji: What to Expect Next?

Coastal areas in Naitasiri Province, as well as Suva-Nausori, Tailevu, Rakiraki, and parts of Vanua Levu including Nakama, Batinikama, Labasa, Nadogo, and the Vaturova-Koroalau and Saqani regions are currently under a flash flood warning. Residents in these areas are advised to stay alert as the flash flood alert continues for all low-lying areas prone to flooding, along with small streams throughout Fiji.

The Nadi Weather Office has communicated that the rainfall is expected to persist for the next few days, contributing to the flooding risks. The continuous downpour will likely lead to rising water levels in drainages, small streams, low water bridges, iris crossings, roads, and properties situated in flood-prone zones.

It is essential for residents to remain cautious and vigilant during this period, as the weather conditions may pose risks to safety and property. Preparedness measures are highly encouraged in anticipation of possible evacuation and water safety protocols.

Overall, Fiji’s resilience in facing natural weather patterns shines through as communities rally together to prepare and support one another during such challenging times.
