The Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources, in collaboration with Fiji Law Reform, is set to conduct the final public consultation regarding the review of the State Lands Act of 1945. This important event is scheduled for next Monday at the Suva Civic Centre Lower Auditorium, from 10 am to 12 pm.
This consultation represents the closing phase of public engagement focused on modernizing and reinforcing the governance and administration of state lands in Fiji. The Ministry encourages public participation, inviting community members and stakeholders to express their views and recommendations on the proposed changes.
For those unable to attend in person, written submissions are welcome and can be directed to the Permanent Secretary for Lands and Mineral Resources. These can be sent via email, hand-delivered to the Ministry’s headquarters in Nasese, or mailed in, with a submission deadline set for 4 pm on Wednesday next week.
The review process aims to establish a more transparent, equitable, and sustainable land management system, benefiting all Fijians and ensuring that state lands are managed effectively. This initiative signals a commitment to improving land governance, which is crucial for the nation’s development and environmental stewardship.
