Fiji’s Netball Future Shines Bright: Community Spirit and Youth Talent Thrive

Nasinu Netball Association’s vice president, Emily Bryson, expressed her pride in the performance of players and teams during their ongoing club games. Since the start of the season, she has observed significant improvement, particularly in the younger categories, such as the princess grade, consisting of players aged 11 to 14.

Bryson extended her gratitude to all participating teams and their commitment to the sport, noting that attendance has been exceptional every weekend. As they progress through their schedule, she mentioned that the league is currently in round five, with plans for eight rounds followed by two elimination rounds, contingent on favorable weather conditions.

In addition to the teams, she acknowledged the role of parents and supporters, emphasizing their importance in fostering a strong community around the sport. The upcoming round six matches are set to take place next weekend at the Multipurpose Court in Suva.

Similar to previous competitions, the nascent enthusiasm is also mirrored in the Suva Netball Association’s rising competition standards. The integration of various age categories has increased participation and competitive spirit across the region, enhancing player development. The positive developments in these netball competitions highlight a promising future for the sport in Fiji, fostering a nurturing environment for aspiring young athletes.

As Bryson noted, the community’s support, along with the commitment from teams, is vital for the sport’s growth. There’s a harmonious spirit surrounding these matches, encouraging participation and fostering both camaraderie and competition among players of all ages.
