The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) will once again participate in the Exercise Talisman Sabre 2025, marking its significant presence in this large-scale multinational military training event. Scheduled from July 13 to August 4, this exercise is recognized as the largest of its kind to take place in Australia, involving over 30,000 personnel from 19 nations, including key regional allies.

For the first time, Papua New Guinea will also host portions of the exercise, coinciding with its 50th Independence Anniversary. Major General Jone Kalouniwai, the RFMF Commander, emphasized that Fiji’s involvement highlights the military’s commitment to becoming a modern and combat-ready force capable of cooperative operations across the Southwest Pacific. The exercise will showcase a range of multi-domain warfighting capabilities including land, air, sea, space, and cyber operations, as well as amphibious and airborne maneuvers.

Kalouniwai expressed pride in the RFMF’s growing capacity to work alongside regional partnerships in complex military environments, reinforcing their dedication to security, stability, and cooperation in the Pacific region. This initiative aligns with previous participations in military exercises, such as Exercise Croix du Sud, demonstrating the RFMF’s ongoing commitment to enhancing its operational readiness and humanitarian response strategies.

The exercise represents not only preparation for potential challenges but also a chance to foster stronger military relationships and improve overall effectiveness. The collaborative spirit evident in these exercises brings optimism for a secure and stable future in the Pacific, highlighting the importance of unity and support among nations in facing evolving security concerns.

Overall, the RFMF’s engagement in Exercise Talisman Sabre 2025 signifies a proactive approach towards regional security and defense cooperation, creating a hopeful outlook for continued collaboration and resilience in addressing future challenges.
