Fiji’s Fuel and LPG Prices Surges – What You Need to Know!

The Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission has announced new fuel and LPG prices for September 2024, which will take effect from September 1. The revised prices are as follows:

– Motor Spirit: $2.90 (an increase of $0.03 or 1.05%)
– Premix: $2.72 (an increase of $0.01 or 0.37%)
– Kerosene: $1.93 (a decrease of $0.02 or 1.03%)
– Diesel: $2.50 (a decrease of $0.02 or 0.79%)

In addition to fuel prices, LPG prices have also been adjusted:

– 4.5 Kg Cylinder: $14.86 (an increase of $0.13 or 0.88%)
– 12 Kg Cylinder: $39.63 (an increase of $0.35 or 0.89%)
– Bulk LPG: $3.06/kg (an increase of $0.03 or 0.99%)
– Autogas: $2.15/litre (an increase of $0.03 or 1.42%)

These adjustments are influenced by various factors, including international refined fuel prices, freight costs, and fluctuations in exchange rates based on imports from July 2024. The rise in prices for motor spirit and premix, along with the decline in kerosene and diesel costs, is attributed to changes in global pricing and currency exchange rates. The increases in LPG prices are linked to stable butane contract rates, heightened freight charges, and a stronger U.S. dollar against the Fijian dollar.

The FCCC will conduct inspections to ensure compliance with these new prices and encourages consumers to report any unfair practices.
