Weather Update Alert!
Brought to you by the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi at exactly 4:39 p.m. on this fine Thursday, March 6, 2025.
So here’s what’s brewing in our sky soup: a low-pressure system is hanging out to the south, and it seems to be inviting its friend the trough over for a slow-moving party. And guess what? That means we’re in for some cloud cover and showers that could stick around for a few days. Grab your umbrellas, folks!
Forecast until midnight:
Today, we’re looking at a mostly fine day, but don’t let that fool you as we may have a few sneaky afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms, particularly over the eastern half of Viti Levu—think Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, and Tailevu North-Naitasiri. Oh, and Southern Bua and Cakaudrove better keep their raincoats handy too! There’s potential for some heavy downpours accompanied by thunderous applause, aka thunderstorms. Just know that these heavy showers might turn low-lying areas into mini rivers, so keep your floaties ready!
Most other spots can expect cloudy periods with some casual showers thrown in.
Tomorrow’s forecast: Expect a medley of cloudy periods, sporadic showers, and those charismatic isolated thunderstorms making an appearance. Heavy falls are yet again on the menu, and let’s just say, low-lying areas should be on high alert for those soon-to-be waterlogged escapades.
Winds will be a mix of moderate to fresh southerly to northwesterly, while the seas will be feeling moderate to rough. Looks like a great day for a wave-watching competition!
What to expect Saturday: Yep, you guessed it—more cloudy periods, showers, and the disruptive duo of isolated thunderstorms.
Now, let’s get down to the nitty-gritty for specific spots:
For Navua, Suva, and Nausori: Halfway decent today with the possibility of afternoon or evening showers and that thunderous soundtrack. Tomorrow brings more cloudy vibes, showers, and those dramatic thunderstorms.
For Nadi, Lautoka, and Ba: A bit on the cloudy side with some showers.
In Sigatoka/Coral Coast: Expect a cloud parade with occasional showers.
For Tavua and Rakiraki: You guessed it—cloudy with some showers.
Yasawa/Mamanuca Group: A similar cloudy fate awaits you, along with some showers.
Labasa will join the cloud club with its share of showers too.
Savusavu brings a fine day minus the showers until the evening, but tomorrow you’ll join the cloud club with those isolated thunderstorms.
Those in Lau and Lomaiviti, as well as Kadavu, are in for cloudy periods spiced up with showers.
And for our friends in Rotuma: An active trough of low pressure is treating you to sporadic rain (some heavy) and a few thunderclaps. Moderate to fresh winds are on the line—get ready for a bumpy ride at sea!
So there you have it, folks! Keep those umbrellas and buckets handy, and may your weekend be filled with just the right amount of rain drama!
