Weather Report Extravaganza

Greetings, my fellow weather enthusiasts! Here’s your daily scoop from the National Weather Forecasting Centre, fresh off the press at the delightful hour of 3:30 PM on this fine Monday, January 5, 2026. Let’s dive into the wacky world of weather, where we have a shallow low pressure system just chillin’ west of Fiji, making its slow exit while leaving behind some cloud cover and sporadic showers to keep things interesting.

Tonight, prepare for occasional showers over the Lau and Lomaiviti groups. It seems like those clouds decided to throw a rain party in the east! Expect some cloudy periods with a splash of showers over Vatukoula, Rakiraki, Tailevu North, and a few other provinces. You might want to keep your umbrella handy, as isolated thunderstorms are also making a guest appearance, complete with heavy rainfall—because why not?

The rest of the country will experience fine weather—dreamy sunshine, except for the afternoon when showers and thunderstorms crash the party. These heavy downpours might try to turn low-lying areas into temporary lakes, so keep your galoshes ready!

Tomorrow, the forecast will bring moderate northeast winds—just enough to blow your hat off—while the seas could be described as moderate to rough. So, if you’re planning to sail, perhaps skip the high seas and stick to calmer waters!

Looking ahead to Wednesday, we have more of the same with cloudy periods and showers for the adventurous areas of Nasinu, Nausori, Korovou, Rakiraki, and more. Meanwhile, other spots will enjoy a delightful fine day—until the afternoon when the weather gods might unleash a couple of showers or thunderstorms for kicks!

As for our beloved local forecasts:

For Navua / Suva / Nausori: Expect some clouds giving you those mysterious weather vibes, with showers and occasional thunderstorms threatening to rain on your parade. High of 30 degrees today, tomorrow similar—because who doesn’t love consistency?

In Natadradave/Korovou: More clouds and showers on the menu today. Shake things up with a thunderstorm that might even make the rain jealous! Expect a high of 30 degrees.

Sigatoka/Coral Coast is looking fine today but watch out for those afternoon storms lurking to surprise you. Enjoy a toasty 31 degrees and similar warmth tomorrow.

Nadi / Lautoka / Ba: Living that fine weather life today, but be prepared for some sneaky storms later in the day. Today’s high is a comfy 32 degrees.

Tavua/Rakiraki is cloudy with showers and thunderstorms likely—but fear not, fair weather returns! Enjoy highs around 31 degrees today!

Yasawa/Mamanuca group is cloud-bound but with potential thunderclaps. High of 32 degrees today makes you want to hit the beach (if it cooperates).

Labasa: More clouds, more showers, possibly punctuated by a thunderstorm performance. High of 32 today, so keep cool!

Savusavu is joining the cloudy party too. A high of 31 means you might want an umbrella in one hand and a drink in the other!

Nabouwalu, Taveuni, and Lau and Lomaiviti groups are feeling cloudy and showery, with thunderstorms likely to crash your sunshine parade. Highs around 30-31 degrees, so stay stylish in rain gear!

Finally, Kadavu is mostly fine during the day, with clouds trying to sprinkle some showers in, while Rotuma is here, shining bright with fine weather and a max of 32 degrees—no complaints here!

That’s your weather giggle for today! Make sure to dress accordingly because Mother Nature clearly has a quirky sense of humor. Stay dry, stay sunny!
