Fiji concluded its journey in the HSBC Cape Town 7s tournament with an impressive third-place finish, decisively defeating Spain 47-10 in the bronze medal match. The team, coached by Osea Kolinisau, had previously narrowly missed a spot in the championship final after a close match against France, which ended 19-17.

Determined to secure a win in the bronze medal playoff, Fiji demonstrated remarkable skill and teamwork, scoring at every opportunity and taking advantage of Spain’s mistakes. The Fijian squad showcased a dominant performance with seven tries, contributed by players including Joji Nasova, Filipe Sauturaga, Jeremaia Matana, George Bose, Terio Veilawa, Kavekini Tanivanuakula, and Vuiviwa Naduvalo.

In addition to the tries, Nasova and Teba each successfully converted one, while Sauturaga and Veilawa added two conversions each, solidifying Fiji’s commanding victory. Spain managed to score only two tries in the first half from Jeremy Trevithick.

This strong performance from Fiji highlights the team’s resilience and skill, setting a positive tone for their future endeavors in international competitions. Fans can take heart from the team’s determination and hope for continued success as they improve on this experience.
