Kitione Baleiloa has been appointed the captain of the Fiji men’s futsal team for the upcoming OFC Futsal Men’s Cup 2025. His selection was announced by head coach José Gerardo during a ceremony at the Fiji FA Headquarters in Suva. Grateful for the opportunity, Baleiloa expressed his thanks and emphasized the collaborative spirit within the team, indicating that leadership is shared among all players.

Coach Gerardo expressed his honor in leading the team, recognizing the players as the true stars who must unite in pursuit of their goals. The team will debut against Vanuatu this Saturday at the Vodafone Arena.

Baleiloa, recognized for his exceptional skills, previously received the Golden Glove award at the Futsal IDC and has been a key player for Suva’s championship futsal team. His leadership in the futsal domain complements his recent inclusion as a guest player for Labasa’s squad in the Pacific Community Cup. This move was strategic, given the absence of their regular goalkeepers due to work commitments and injuries.

The appointment of Baleiloa as captain highlights the trust and confidence placed in his abilities both on and off the court. His experience and accolades position him as an inspiring leader for Fiji’s futsal squad. As Fiji gears up for the OFC Futsal Men’s Cup, there is optimism for a strong performance, driven by Baleiloa’s leadership and the team’s collective efforts.
