Sevuloni Mocenacagi stands as the sole survivor of the Fiji 7s team that last celebrated victory at the Cape Town 7s in 2018. During that tournament, Mocenacagi played a pivotal role by scoring a try in the final, helping Fiji secure a 29-15 win against the USA and lifting the championship trophy, a feat accomplished under the guidance of then-coach Gareth Baber.

In the following seasons, Fiji has continued to show promise in the 7s circuit. Last year, under coach Ben Gollings, the team included Captain Jeremaia Matana and seasoned players such as Pilipo Bukayaro, Terio Veilawa, Filipe Sauturaga, Vuiviwa Naduvalo, and Iokimi Vunaki, who contributed to Fiji’s bronze medal victory after a narrow 14-7 win over Ireland.

The Fiji 7s team is now focused on building momentum after their recent triumph at the Dubai 7s, as they aim for another strong performance this weekend. This determination to succeed highlights the team’s resilience and commitment, bringing hope to fans as they strive for excellence on the international stage.

It’s inspiring to see how the team is evolving and aiming to reclaim past glory while also holding onto the lessons learned from previous experiences. With a blend of youthful energy and seasoned expertise, Fiji’s rugby future appears bright.
