The NZFFI Auckland All Stars showcased their dominance in their final Group B match of the 2024 Flick Hygiene Pacific Community Cup by defeating Labasa 3-1 in Lautoka. This victory secured their place in the semifinals.
Labasa entered the match with four points and needed at least a draw to advance, while the Auckland team was in a must-win situation to keep their tournament hopes alive. The decisive moment came just before halftime, when Andrew Naicker skillfully netted the first goal for the All Stars, skillfully bypassing Labasa’s goalkeeper, Simione Tamanisau.
In the second half, the All Stars continued to display their offensive strength with goals from Gabriel Matanisiga and Solomon Islander Andrew Abba, effectively sealing the match. Although Labasa managed to score a late penalty through Christopher Wasasala, it wasn’t enough to alter the outcome.
With this victory, the Auckland All Stars finished the group stage in second place with six points, just behind the USA All Stars who topped the group with seven points.
