A close family friend of Justin Ho has refuted allegations that he threatened Ho regarding the 4.15 tonnes of methamphetamine seized in Legalega, Nadi, in January last year. This claim emerged during a hearing in the High Court in Lautoka, where a significant witness affirmed his longstanding acquaintance with Ho and his family, testifying that they have known each other for approximately a decade through the Northern Club in Lautoka.

During the cross-examination, Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, John Rabuku, pressed the witness about his connection to Ho and whether he had ever issued any threats. The witness consistently denied these allegations, stating emphatically that he had never communicated any threats to Ho or his family—neither in person nor through any electronic means.

This testimony was presented following the prosecution’s conclusion of its case, with further hearings scheduled for June 30, where the defense will present its arguments. Among those expected to testify are Ho and several co-accused, highlighting the ongoing complexities of this landmark trial linked to substantial drug trafficking charges in Fiji.

The case reflects broader efforts to combat drug-related crimes, as highlighted in similar past proceedings where the Fijian judiciary emphasized its commitment to maintaining transparency and accountability in addressing drug trafficking issues. Witness testimonies in these trials collectively aim to reinforce public trust in the legal system while addressing serious allegations of organized crime.

As the trial unfolds, there remains a note of hope that the robust legal dialogue will provide clarity and justice, reiterating the importance of community safety and the resolve of authorities to tackle drug-related offenses decisively. The engagement of multiple witnesses signifies a committed joint effort towards dismantling drug trafficking networks in Fiji, fostering optimism for public safety moving forward.
