The Ministry of Education has announced that schools in the Western Division will resume classes tomorrow, March 5, 2026, with certain exceptions. Minister for Education, Aseri Radrodro, in coordination with the National Disaster Risk Management Office and other authorities, has specified that several schools will remain closed as they are designated evacuation centers.

The schools that will not reopen include Nokonoko District School, Andrews Primary School, Nawaka District School, Nadi Muslim College, and Lovu Sangam School. All other schools in the Western Division are expected to resume normal operations.

In contrast, educational institutions in the Northern, Eastern, and Central Divisions will continue to function without interruption, with reports indicating favorable weather conditions across these regions.

Parents and guardians are advised to remain vigilant due to the ongoing hurricane season. They should exercise caution and ensure that children do not attempt to cross flooded roads, creeks, or rivers. Additionally, it is important to minimize unnecessary travel and keep up to date with official weather advisories.

School heads are encouraged to maintain open communication with their Management Committees, District Education Offices, and Divisional Education Offices for ongoing weather updates, which will be provided by the Ministry of Education.

The Ministry emphasizes that the safety and welfare of students, teachers, and families is its top priority. The situation will be closely monitored, with further updates to be communicated as needed.
