Energy Fiji Limited (EFL) reported a significant power disruption caused by severe thunder and lightning activity in Monasavu. Acting Chief Operating Officer Bobby Naimawi explained that at 6 a.m., the transmission lines, including the 132,000 volts Wailoa to Cunningham Road in Suva and the Wailoa to Vuda in Lautoka, were affected, leading to power outages in parts of Viti Levu’s Central and Western Divisions.

Fortunately, Naimawi confirmed that EFL teams worked diligently to restore service, successfully re-energizing the primary transmission line and fully restoring power by 8:30 a.m.

This incident highlights the resilience and efficiency of EFL’s response teams, showcasing their commitment to quickly restoring service after adverse weather events. It reassures customers that despite challenges posed by nature, effective measures are in place to minimize disruption and maintain reliable energy supply.
