Weather Update
So, grab your umbrellas and hold onto your hats because it looks like Mother Nature has got her party hat on and it’s a wild one!
A Gale Warning is now blowing through the eastern regions of Vanua Levu, Cikobia, Naqelevu, Taveuni, and Northern Lau. This is not the light breeze that makes you cozy; we are talking about winds strong enough to make your hair stand on end – so styling gel may not be necessary today!
For the rest of Vanua Levu, along with parts of Viti Levu, Yasawa, Mamanuca, and Lomaiviti, there’s a Strong Wind Warning in effect. You might want to consider anchoring down your outdoor furniture or just bringing everything inside if you don’t want it to join the journey to the neighboring island!
A Heavy Rain Warning is also making its presence felt in the Northern Division as well as Lau and Lomaiviti Groups. It feels like those clouds have been holding onto that rain for too long and finally decided to let loose. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that they don’t start inviting their thunderstorm friends over!
And in case you weren’t already worried enough, a Heavy Rain Alert is in the works for the rest of Fiji. So, if you’re planning a day out, make sure to pack your swim gear just in case the roads decide to turn into rivers!
The southeast winds are putting on quite a show across the country while Tropical Depression TD09F has been spotted making its way towards us. It seems this depression is in no hurry and just loves the idea of a leisurely cruise into Fiji. By the way, this little fellow is expected to ramp up the drama with strong winds and some showers later today.
If you’re in Navua, Suva, Nausori, and other parts I could go on and on listing, check in with the special weather bulletin for the latest updates. Those links provide everything you need to know if you want to brave the weather—or just want to get cozy on the couch!
Here’s to a day filled with rain, winds, and hopefully not too much chaos! Stay safe, stay dry, and keep those raincoats handy!
