Rugby Rivalry Intensifies: Who Will Dominate the Final Stretch of Fiji’s 7s Series?

After notable victories in the Fiji Bitter Wairiki, Labasa, Savusavu, and Tabadamu 7s tournaments, the Viti Roofing Devo Babas have firmly established themselves at the top of the men’s series standings with a total of 1012.30 points. This impressive accumulation of points has been reflected in the latest series standings, which include the top 20 teams following 10 legs of the Fiji Bitter 7s series that commenced in Kadavu last October.

Trailing closely behind, the BLK Lavidi Brothers occupy second place with 967.03 points, while Wardens Gold follow in third with 908.97 points. The Police Blue team ranks fourth with 719.71 points, and the TEMC Warriors round out the top five with 693.30 points.

In the women’s division, the standings are equally competitive. The Wardens lead the table with 119.02 points, just ahead of the Blue Gas Lilian White team, which has 109.28 points. Tagimoucia Ranadi sits in third with 100.33 points. The Ezers team, successful in the Labasa and Savusavu legs, is in fourth place with 84.89 points, while the Kadavu Stallions and Mount Masada hold the fifth and sixth positions with 78.41 and 31.49 points, respectively.

With the series moving towards its final stretch, the upcoming Nawaka and Marist 7s tournaments will be crucial. The Nawaka 7s is scheduled to occur at Prince Charles Park in Nadi from March 13-15, while the Marist 7s will take place at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva from March 21-23.

The anticipation for these events is high, as they serve to not only highlight the athletic talents within the rugby community but also foster a spirit of unity and pride among fans and participants alike. As local teams prepare for the remaining tournaments, there is optimism that they will continue to showcase their skills and passion for rugby, contributing to the vibrant sporting culture across Fiji. These matches promise to be thrilling for spectators, offering both excitement and camaraderie.
