The Water Authority of Fiji has advised residents along the Suva-Nausori corridor to store ample water, as maintenance work is set to take place from this Friday through Sunday, leading to temporary water disruptions.
The Authority has conducted ongoing site assessments and identified additional risks that must be addressed prior to commencing the work to ensure the safety of all involved. They noted that these risks could result in delays if not managed accordingly.
Fijians are encouraged to prepare by collecting enough water to last them through the service interruption.
The maintenance will facilitate vital connection tasks for a new DN900mm Gravity Main, linking the Waitolu Reservoir to the current DN600mm DICL Rising Main from the Waila Water Treatment Plant, which supplies the Wainibuku Reservoir.
Affected areas will include those reliant on the Wainibuku Reservoir as well as other connected reservoirs, including Tovata Reservoir, Nagatugatu Reservoir, Tacirua Reservoir, Dokanaisuva, Coloisuva Reservoir, Kalabu Reservoir, Nasinu Reservoir, and Flagstaff Reservoir.
