A slow‑moving trough of low pressure continues to bring cloud and showers across Fiji while a moderate to strong southeast wind flow persists in the southern parts of the group. A strong wind warning remains in force for the Southern Lau Group, Yasayasa Moala, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands.
Those southern and eastern islands should expect southeast winds averaging around 40 km/hr with gusts up to 55 km/hr and rough seas. Elsewhere, moderate to fresh southeast winds will prevail with moderate to rough seas. Occasional showers with isolated heavy falls and thunderstorms are forecast for the Greater Suva/Nausori–Tailevu area, Serua–Namosi–Naitasiri, Lomaiviti and Lau groups, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands. Localised heavy falls may lead to flash flooding of low‑lying and flood‑prone areas.
For the urban centres of Navua, Suva and Nausori, occasional showers with isolated heavy falls and thunderstorms are expected, with temperatures near 23–29°C. Natadradave and Korovou have a similar forecast and temperature range. The outlook for Monday for these eastern and southern parts of Viti Levu again indicates southeast winds averaging 40 km/hr with gusts to 55 km/hr and the continued risk of heavy, isolated downpours and flash flooding in vulnerable areas.
Other districts will see variable cloud and shower activity through the next day or so. The Yasawa and Mamanuca groups can expect partly cloudy conditions with afternoon or evening showers and isolated thunderstorms, with the same southeast wind strength and temperatures around 23–31°C (falling slightly Monday). Sigatoka and the Coral Coast, Nadi/Lautoka/Ba, Tavua/Rakiraki and parts of the northern and eastern provinces (Labasa, Savusavu, Nabouwalu, Taveuni) will experience partly cloudy conditions with afternoon or evening showers or thunderstorms at times; several of these areas may see heavy falls on Monday. The Lau and Lomaiviti groups and Kadavu are highlighted for occasional showers with isolated heavy falls and thunderstorms and the potential for flash flooding; winds there are expected to be southeast at about 40 km/hr with gusts to 55 km/hr and rough seas.
Rotuma remains under the influence of the trough with cloudy periods, some showers and isolated thunderstorms, easing to occasional showers from tomorrow. Moderate southeasterly winds and moderate to rough seas are expected, with temperatures near 24–31°C and occasional isolated thunderstorms in the short‑term outlook.
