The OFC U-16 Women’s Championship is set to kick off tomorrow at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva, featuring eight teams from the Oceania region competing for two spots in the upcoming FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco. This championship is particularly significant due to the World Cup’s expansion to 24 teams.
The tournament comprises two groups: Group A includes Fiji, Tonga, Cook Islands, and Samoa, while Group B consists of New Zealand, New Caledonia, Tahiti, and the Solomon Islands.
The competition will culminate in exciting semi-finals, where the winners of Group A will face the runners-up of Group B, and the winners of Group B will take on the runners-up of Group A. These semi-finals are scheduled for September 18. The winners will earn their spots in the World Cup and will compete for the OFC U-16 Women’s Championship title in the final on September 21.
