National Federation Party (NFP) Leader Professor Biman Prasad has expressed the party’s openness to potential coalition arrangements in the future, similar to the dynamics observed in the post-election landscape of 2022. In his comments regarding the possibility of reuniting with the Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) and the People’s Alliance, Professor Prasad emphasized the NFP’s commitment to principled politics and constructive engagement.
“NFP believes in the good practice of politics. The practice of politics is as important as economic and social policy-making,” he stated. This approach reflects the party’s longstanding belief in the importance of dialogue and collaboration with other political entities to advance the national interest.
Although he is no longer a minister, Professor Prasad underlined that his responsibilities as a backbencher and party leader are focused on supporting the coalition government’s agenda. “We are focused on what the coalition government is delivering. As a leader of the National Federation Party, and as a member of the coalition government, our party is firmly focused on working with the parties in government to deliver for the people of Fiji,” he explained.
He reiterated the priority of stability and effective governance, emphasizing that cooperation among coalition partners is essential for achieving the country’s development objectives. In addition, preparations are underway for the upcoming election, showcasing the party’s proactive stance in the political arena.
This spirit of collaboration underscores the potential for a united front among political parties in Fiji, aimed at addressing the pressing needs of the population while ensuring sustainable progress for the nation.
