The Ba Rugby Union has secured a two-year sponsorship deal with NewWorld IGA, a prominent local supermarket, aimed at strengthening the women’s 15s rugby team ahead of the Ranadi Cup set for August. This partnership emphasizes a commitment to developing grassroots rugby and enhancing support for women’s sports in the community.
Luse Vula, the Women’s Rugby Director for Ba, expressed her appreciation to NewWorld for their support, highlighting the significant lack of financial resources dedicated to women’s rugby in the area. She pointed out that the women’s main team has been assiduously preparing since joining the Ranadi Cup in 2022, with the goal of qualifying for the Marama Championship. Vula considers the sponsorship a crucial boost for the team’s aspirations.
This sponsorship coincides with recent changes within Ba Rugby, including the introduction of new coaching staff aimed at improving on-field performance. Moreover, with the Ba Tikina Championship approaching in June, Vula noted that the selection process for the NewWorld IGA Ba Women’s squad will take place after this event, underscoring the growing competitiveness and ambition within Ba Rugby.
This collaboration not only champions women’s rugby but also signifies a larger movement to uplift the sport in the region. The partnership with NewWorld IGA is a positive step toward providing better resources and opportunities for female athletes, helping to forge a robust rugby community that inspires future generations of players.
