Levuka Town has marked a significant milestone for the residents of Ovalau Island and the Lomaiviti Group with the inauguration of its new municipal market. The official opening took place last Friday, led by Minister for Housing and Local Government, Maciu Nalumisa.
This new market aims to serve communities from Ovalau, Moturiki, and the encompassing Lomaiviti Group. To further support the market’s operations, the government has provided a nine-ton truck specifically for fish deliveries and other essential services in the area, with a total investment of $180,000 toward this initiative. Nalumisa encouraged the community to take ownership of the facility, highlighting that they now have one of the finest markets in Fiji.
