Fiji is set to showcase its rich historical and cultural ties with Tonga when His Majesty King Tupou VI and Her Majesty Queen Nanasipau’u make a royal visit from July 8 to July 12, 2025. Invited by Ratu Tevita Uluilakeba Mara, Head of the Mataqali Vuanirewa from Tubou Village, the Tongan monarchs will attend the significant installation ceremony of the Sau Ni Vanua ko Lau and Tui Lau, scheduled for July 10 in Tubou Village, Lakeba, Lau.
This important visit highlights the longstanding relationship shared between Fiji and Tonga, as both countries have been intertwined for centuries through shared ancestry and cultural similarities. The Fijian Cabinet has officially endorsed the logistical arrangements for the royal visit, establishing an inter-agency task force to ensure successful planning and coordination of all related events.
