Komo’s head coach, Atunaisa Bale, expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance despite a defeat to the seasoned Moce side in the ongoing 2025 National Easter Cricket Tournament. Bale highlighted that the primary goal for his players, many of whom are competing at this level for the first time, was to gain exposure and experience throughout the week-long event.
Bale advised his young team, composed primarily of high school students, to focus on giving their best effort rather than the final score. He stated, “We’re just trying to revive cricket back home and help these youths get something useful out of it.”
The team received significant support from fans at Albert Park in Suva, which Bale greatly appreciated. As the tournament progresses towards its conclusion, there is a sense of optimism surrounding the potential growth of the players and the sport within the community.
This echoes sentiments from previous tournaments where teams like Moce Secondary School overcame challenges and furthered their cricketing skills and opportunities. In their recent success, Moce showcased remarkable resilience, demonstrating the spirit of grassroots cricket and the positive impact of community support.
As the tournament nears its end, it not only represents a competitive platform for these young athletes but also serves as a stepping stone towards future opportunities, ultimately aiming to inspire continued participation in cricket back in their islands.
