Kadavu Clinches Marama Cup Semis in Nail-Biter Over Nadroga

Kadavu has advanced to the semi-finals of the Subrails Marama Cup after a hard-fought 31-29 victory against Nadroga at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka. The match turned out to be a thrilling contest, with Kadavu securing a strong lead of 26-12 at halftime, maintaining pressure on their opponents throughout the game.

Kadavu’s head coach, Etuate Nauro, expressed his appreciation for the team’s preparation, acknowledging Nadroga as a formidable and experienced opponent. “When we reached the quarter-final stage, we had to prepare ourselves well to meet Nadroga because it is not an easy team to play against,” he stated. Nauro was particularly proud of his players, who managed to overcome significant challenges, including playing with only 14 men after receiving a red card.

The absence of several key players due to international commitments revealed areas for improvement that Kadavu needs to address as they progress. “There are some areas we could work on, such as our defence and our line-outs,” said Nauro. He also expressed gratitude towards the players and the community for their unwavering support, recognizing the guidance of their faith that contributed to their success on the field.

This victory speaks to Kadavu’s remarkable journey in the Marama Cup, particularly as they are competing in this prestigious tournament for the first time. The team has shown determination and growth, with earlier successes suggesting a promising future in Fijian rugby. The community’s enthusiasm is palpable, and as Kadavu moves forward, they embody the spirit of resilience and ambition that inspires both their supporters and future generations of athletes.
