Last Thursday, the InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa, Grand Pacific Hotel, and Holiday Inn Suva hosted a Christmas cocktail event for their clients and stakeholders at the Grand Pacific Hotel. This annual gathering served as a festive opportunity for the group to reflect on a successful year.

Lachlan Walker, the general manager of the IHG Portfolio, expressed gratitude for the significant support from shareholders, business partners, and customers throughout the year. He noted that 2023 has been both busy and rewarding for the three FNPF-owned hotels in Fiji. Walker emphasized that their commitment extends beyond just providing excellent hospitality; the hotels are also focused on making positive contributions to the community and the environment.

This year, IHG has undertaken various sustainability initiatives, such as the ‘Litter for a Latte’ beach clean-up program, which resulted in the removal of over 850 kilograms of waste from Natadola beach. The goal is to reach a total of one tonne by year-end. Furthermore, the campaign ‘If you can’t bin it, bag it’ has been promoted to raise awareness about littering.

In terms of community support, IHG has nearly raised $70,000 through various donation initiatives, including the Cup of Kindness Coffee Donations and contributions from cocktail and spa services. These funds have been directed to important projects in education, healthcare, and sustainability. Notably, through their Community Care Fund, IHG has invested over $130,000 into local initiatives benefiting communities in Natadola and Suva.

The hotel chain also participated in the global Giving for Good month in September, which provided over 1,600 meals to the homeless in Suva and Nadi, in collaboration with local organizations such as Sacred Heart Kitchen and St Vincent De Paul.

Walker concluded by highlighting the importance of community involvement and environmental sustainability as integral parts of IHG’s mission, combining exceptional hospitality with meaningful impact.

This optimistic outlook reflects IHG’s commitment to not only serving guests but also enhancing the lives of locals and preserving the beauty of Fiji.
