Excitement is on the rise as the Fijian Broadcasting Corporation prepares for the FMF Mirchi FM and Radio Fiji Two Non-Stop Holi Masti celebration this weekend. Scheduled for Saturday from 3 PM to 8 PM at the Damodar City Centre Carpark, this year’s event is set to be an inclusive celebration of unity and brotherhood.
Mirchi FM presenter Monish Sharma emphasized the cultural and spiritual significance of Holi, a festival celebrated widely in Hinduism and other traditions. He shared that this year’s festivities will incorporate traditional performances alongside Bollywood-themed acts, highlighting the festival’s multicultural nature. Sharma noted that the event is not just limited to the Hindu community, as people from various ethnic backgrounds, including iTaukei, are encouraged to join in the colorful festivities.
Adding to the anticipation, Sharma mentioned a noticeable increase in youth participation, indicating a growing interest in cultural celebrations among younger generations. He quoted, “Holi is a festival of colors that symbolizes the victory of truth over evil,” underscoring the festival’s message of hope and positivity.
In connection with this event, the Shree Sanatan Dharam Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji has also emphasized the importance of unity during Holi. Their president, Sarju Prasad, advocated for a celebration that welcomes participation from all Fijians, irrespective of their backgrounds, reinforcing the idea that Holi is a time for everyone to come together in joy and camaraderie.
