Attention, water lovers! A HEAVY RAIN WARNING is ringing its bells for the Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, Viti Levu, Kadavu, and those nearby tiny islands you might have overlooked. So grab your water wings!

Meanwhile, everywhere else in Fiji is on HIGH ALERT for heavy rain; it’s going to be a soggy situation out there! For more nitty-gritty details, check out our Special Weather Bulletin at: https://www.met.gov.fj/index.php?page=warn1#20014.txt

The Situation: A mischievous trough of low pressure is creating quite the splash across Fiji. Embrace the thrill of a northerly wind flow – we recommend paying attention to your umbrellas!

Forecast until midnight tonight for the Fiji group: Expect regular cameo appearances from rain and an occasional thrilling thunderstorm, particularly in Yasawa and Mamanuca, Viti Levu, Kadavu, and those small nearby islands ready to make a splash. Other areas will see similar drama: rain, thunderstorms, and a chance of cringing as you dodge raindrops on your way to work!

Heads up! Localised heavy showers might turn some low-lying areas into temporary lakes, so keep your wellies handy! Expect moderate to fresh northerly winds and seas that may resemble a rollercoaster ride – moderate to rough is the tone of the day.

Looking ahead to Friday: More of the same! Buckets of rain and thunderous applause will make an appearance over Yasawa, Mamanuca, Viti Levu, Kadavu, and smaller islands. Showers will step in later to play a more gentle role. As for the rest of the islands, rain will also be part of the show, but don’t worry, it too will transition into a quieter shower performance later.

Now, let’s break it down for specific areas:

Navua/Suva/Nausori: Get ready for your dose of periodic rain, heavy at times, with a few thunderous interruptions. And guess what? It’ll be the same story for Friday!

Sigatoka/Coral Coast: Same thrilling forecast here, folks! Rain and thunderstorms are set to keep you company until Friday when it shifts to a shower performance.

Nadi/Lautoka/Ba: You guessed it – expect periods of rain and the occasional lightning show. Friday will be more of the same – better keep those raincoats on standby!

Tavua/Rakiraki: You’ve got it – prepare for some heavy rain and the odd thunderstorm. This trend is sticking around through Friday.

Natadradave/Korovou: Hovering clouds and relentless rain will be your companions. Friday continues the trend, but don’t fret, showers will take over eventually.

Yasawa/Mamanuca group: Similar forecast – rain, heavy at times, but they’ll ease into showers later!

Labasa: Expect some heavy rainfall and the occasional thunderous tantrum from the sky on Friday as well.

Savusavu: Rain and thunderstorms are definitely on the agenda for both today and Friday – consider yourself warned!

Lau/Lomaiviti: Heavy rain looks set to stay, keeping things dramatic until Friday’s roll into subtle showers.

Kadavu: Ocassional heavy rain and thunder will keep it lively. Ease is expected on Friday, moving into showers.

Rotuma: The winds here are feeling quite cheeky! Expect occasional heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms. Do brace for a similar forecast on Friday.

So there you have it, folks! Secure your rain gear and dismiss any thoughts of staying dry—you’re in for a good, old-fashioned, tropical downpour. Stay safe, and don’t forget to enjoy the show!
