The Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) has served full disclosures of the charges against former Fiji Corrections Service (FCS) Commissioner, Salote Panapasa.
Panapasa appeared before Magistrate Krishna Prasad at the Suva Magistrate’s Court yesterday to face two counts of abuse of office and an alternative charge of general dishonesty causing a loss.
It is alleged that between August 1 and September 30, 2023, Panapasa, while employed as a civil servant in Suva, instructed officers to use FCS building materials for her private residence in Kinoya.
It is also alleged that between August 1 and October 31, 2023, Panapasa instructed a Corrections officer to alter weekly reports to justify the use of the building materials at her home.
During the court proceeding, FICAC lawyer Josann Pene informed the court that the second phase of disclosures had now been served.
The first set of disclosures was served during Panapasa’s initial court appearance on June 14.
Panapasa is scheduled to enter her plea on July 26.
Her bail was extended.
