FMF Foods Becomes New Sponsor for Fiji’s Inter-District Championship in Five-Year Deal

FMF Foods Limited has successfully landed a five-year sponsorship deal with the Fiji Football Association for the Inter-District Championship (IDC). The specific financial details have not been disclosed in line with their agreement, but Rajesh Patel, the president of Fiji FA, confirmed it was a considerable deal.

During a press conference at the FMF headquarters in Suva, FMF Group Manager Operations, Jimi Taniela, explained their reasons for sponsoring the tournament. Taniela stated that through this sponsorship, FMF hopes to bring communities together across Fiji, foster healthy living, and aid in the cultivation of local talent.

Sponsorship of the IDC also provides the FMF brands with added visibility due to the high profile nature and prestige of the tournament, Taniela added. The IDC, established in 1938 and comprising teams from Suva, Ba, Rewa, Levuka, and Lautoka, has been an integral part of Fiji’s football story. Patel stated that FMF’s sponsorship of the 86-year-old tournament is a historical moment.

Patel expressed his gratitude to Courts for their previous support. He also mentioned the IDC’s importance as the nation’s most significant football tournament, involving 22 district teams. The 2021 IDC is set to take place from October 15 to 20 at Churchill Park, Lautoka.
