Final registrations for the Wai Tui International competition have officially closed, marking a significant milestone as nearly 300 paddlers prepare to gather at Wailoaloa Beach this Easter. This surge of interest solidifies the event’s status as one of the fastest-growing va’a competitions in the Pacific region.
Competitors from across Fiji and eight additional nations, namely Australia, Nauru, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, and the United States, will join local clubs for four thrilling days of racing scheduled from April 3 to 6, 2026. Set against the picturesque backdrop of Nadi Bay, the Wai Tui International will feature an extensive program of both V1 and V6 racing events across junior, open, and master divisions. The event’s schedule is designed to include both explosive sprint races and longer endurance courses, providing teams an exciting chance to test their speed, strategy, and resilience amidst Fiji’s warm coastal conditions.
This year’s participation reflects the growing strength and enthusiasm within Fiji’s paddling community, highlighting the rising demand for high-level regional competitions. For many teams, the regatta presents a unique opportunity to evaluate their skills against an international field while strengthening the interconnectedness that defines the sport within the Pacific.
With participant registrations now finalized, the event organizers are shifting their focus toward executing a world-class competition that will not only showcase Fiji’s capability as a host but also emphasize the collective commitment within the Pacific to the sport of paddling. The upcoming competition promises to deliver an unforgettable experience for athletes, spectators, and the entire community, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship in the heart of the Pacific.
