Fiji’s Rugby Stars Secure Future: Donoghoe and Montoya Sign Major Extensions!

Fiji Bati utility Kurt Donoghoe has solidified his position with the National Rugby League team, the Dolphins, by extending his contract until 2027. This marks his second contract renewal within a three-month span, having previously re-signed in December for the 2025 season.

Since joining the Dolphins in 2022, Donoghoe has made a significant impact, participating in 16 matches and representing Fiji Bati in five international competitions. His athletic prowess and dedication have not gone unnoticed, with the Dolphins’ Head of Academy and Fijian Assistant coach, Matt Hartigan, commending Donoghoe’s strong work ethic and creativity on the field. Hartigan highlighted that when Donoghoe plays with direction and confidence, he can enhance the performance of his teammates.

In addition to Donoghoe’s continued success, fellow Fijian player Marcelo Montoya has also extended his contract with the Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs for two years, indicating positive momentum for Fiji’s representation in the NRL.

This contract extension not only underscores Donoghoe’s contributions to the Dolphins but also emphasizes the club’s commitment to developing home-grown talent and building a competitive squad for future seasons. Fans can look forward to seeing more thrilling performances from Donoghoe as he continues to excel in his rugby career.

Overall, the extensions for both players point toward a bright future for Fijian talent in the NRL, reflecting the league’s increasing appreciation for skilled players from the region.
