BRED Bank Fiji has officially opened its new BRED Central branch in the heart of Suva, marking the latest phase of the French-owned bank’s multi-year expansion in the country. The move relocates the central office from the MHCC Building, where BRED first established its presence more than a decade ago, and represents what the bank’s chief executive described as both a significant investment and a clear signal of long-term commitment to Fiji.

Pierre Tastet, CEO of BRED Bank Fiji, said the new branch was designed “with one central idea in mind – the customers.” The facility combines traditional teller services with dedicated spaces for retail customers, a business banking area and a premier banking centre. The business banking zone will house relationship managers focused on assisting small and medium enterprises, corporates and professionals, with the bank emphasising its role in supporting growth, investment and job creation. The premier banking centre offers a private, personalised setting for higher‑tier clients to access face-to-face advice.

Tastet framed the opening as part of a broader strategy that balances physical presence with digital innovation. “The future of banking is both physical and digital,” he said, adding that customers want “the warmth of human relationships and the convenience of modern technology.” He confirmed that BRED will roll out new digital products and services in the coming months aimed at making banking faster and more accessible for Fijians.

The Suva branch is the latest addition to a domestic network that has grown rapidly since BRED’s initial foothold in Fiji. From a single branch in 2012, the bank now operates eight branches across the Central, Eastern and Northern divisions, a trajectory officials and partners say demonstrates BRED’s belief in Fiji’s economic prospects. Benjamin Delannoy, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of France, described the inauguration as an “important step” in the bank’s expansion and a concrete example of France–Fiji commercial partnership supporting investment and jobs.

Construction of the new central branch was contracted to Menon Construction Limited. BRED’s leadership stressed that the build was tailored to modern customer needs and operational efficiency, reflecting a shift in how commercial banks in the region are blending in-branch advisory services with digital platforms.

The opening comes as banks in Fiji and the broader Pacific reassess service delivery models to meet rising customer expectations for convenience, personalised advice and digital access. For BRED, the Suva flagship is both a physical hub for high-touch client engagement and a visible platform from which to introduce forthcoming online and mobile banking enhancements.

With the new central branch now operational, BRED Bank Fiji appears to be consolidating its dual strategy of on-the-ground expansion and digital transformation — an approach the bank says is designed to deepen relationships with households and businesses and to back longer-term economic activity across the country.
