Fijian peacekeepers serving in the Golan Heights as part of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) are currently not facing any immediate threats, according to Defence Minister Pio Tikoduadua. This assurance comes in light of recent developments in Syria and the surrounding area.

Minister Tikoduadua emphasized that all Fijian personnel stationed with UNDOF, including those based at Camp Faour headquarters, are safe and accounted for. He also mentioned that robust contingency plans are established to ensure the safety of the troops if the security situation deteriorates.

The minister commended the bravery and professionalism of the Fijian soldiers, acknowledging the difficult conditions they endure while serving their mission.

This statement reflects a positive outlook amid challenging circumstances and highlights the commitment of Fijian forces to maintaining peace and stability in the region. The assurance of their safety and the presence of contingency plans instills confidence in their continued operations.

Overall, this serves as a reminder of the vital role peacekeepers play in global stability and the importance of supporting them in their mission.
