Fiji Weather Update: Trough of Low Pressure Spreads Rain and Thunderstorms with Flash Flood Risk Across Islands

Weather Update:
Brought to you by the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi, clocking in at 5:30 AM on Friday the 14th of November 2025.

So, here’s the scoop: a pesky trough of low pressure has decided it wants to crash the Fiji party and stick around for a few days. Because who doesn’t love a dramatic entrance, right?

Forecast until midnight tonight for the Fiji group:
Prepare yourselves for some frequent rain and a few minor thunderstorms—because the clouds are feeling a bit moody. And you might want to keep an eye on the sky for isolated heavy falls; it’s like the weather is playing a game of “Will it rain or won’t it?” Watch out for flash-flooding if you’re in low-lying or flood-prone areas. The Western Division is expected to get a break as the rain eases up later today, so they’ll have their chance to dry off. Winds will be swinging moderate from southwest to northwest, and seas will be moderate as well. Not exactly a day for sailing, folks!

Looking ahead to Saturday:
Expect the delightful consistency of occasional rain and isolated thunderstorms in places like Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu, Southern Bua, Cakaudrove, Taveuni, as well as some cozy nearby islands. Yep, you guessed it—more possible heavy falls! We might be seeing a few local flood zones popping up again. In the afternoon, partly cloudy skies will flirt with showers and thunderstorms, and those heavy falls won’t be shy either. Grab your umbrellas! Winds will pick up to moderate and fresh from the southeast, and the sea will be a bit more on the rough side—a good day for a game of “how not to spill your drink on a boat.”

Now, let’s break it down for the key areas:

For Navua/Suva/Nausori:
Prepare for occasional rain and the possibility of those moody thunderstorms throwing a tantrum. Min: 22, Max: 28. Sounds like sweater weather with a side of rain boots!

For Sigatoka/Coral Coast:
More of the same with rain and a sprinkle of thunderstorms—who knew you’d need to pack for both a sunny day at the beach and a monsoon? Min: 21, Max: 29.

For Nadi/Lautoka/Ba:
Occasional rain and, yes, more thunderstorms! Keep that raincoat handy. Min: 21, Max: 30.

For Tavua/Rakiraki:
Expect the weather to be a little moody as well—with occasional rain and possible heavy falls. Min: 23, Max: 30.

And if you’re in Natadradave/Korovou:
Don’t expect to dodge the weather for long; occasional rain and a few storms are hot on your heels. Min: 22, Max: 29.

Yasawa/Mamanuca group:
Rainy days are in your forecast too, so make sure your sandals can take some splashes! Min: 22, Max: 30.

For Labasa:
Yep, you guessed it—occasional rain and those annoying thunderstorms. Min: 20, Max: 30.

Feeling like a local gossip hub? Savusavu has its share of gloom too, but just a little—occasional rain with possible heavy falls. Min: 23, Max: 29. The same goes for Nabouwalu, Taveuni, Lau, and Kadavu—rain and thunderstorms are knocking, so leave your drizzles at the door!

For Rotuma:
In a perkier twist, an easterly wind flow says “Let’s be fine!” Moderate clouds and peaceful vibes expected, with winds shifting to a slight southeast later on. Min: 26, Max: 31.

Outlook for Saturday shows you’re blessed with fine weather, so maybe you can finally put that umbrella down! Min: 25, Max: 31.

So, gear up for a wet and wild weekend! Don’t forget those rainboots and a good sense of humor.
