Weather Update
Attention, dear citizens of Fiji, because it seems Mother Nature has decided it’s time for a little shower party and she didn’t send out enough invites!
Yes, you guessed it: a HEAVY RAIN ALERT is in full effect for the entire Fiji group! So, grab your umbrellas and hold onto your hats – it’s going to be quite the ride!
Currently, a trough of low pressure is hanging around like an uninvited guest, bringing along its loyal entourage of clouds and showers. This weather system is slated to roll through the eastern part of Fiji before deciding to take over the rest of the group. So, you might want to postpone any outdoor plans or at least invite the rain to join!
The forecast leading up to midnight tomorrow suggests that Viti Levu’s eastern areas will see occasional showers and occasional rumbles of thunder, likely creating a competitive atmosphere for who can make the loudest noise. Expect some scattered fun with the thunder as it dances through the Greater Suva/Nausori-Tailevu North area, up to Naitasiri & Serua-Namosi. Meanwhile, the northern provinces will get their share of damp delights too!
Elsewhere, partly cloudy skies will tease you with “maybe” afternoon or evening showers. As tomorrow approaches, we can look forward to occasional rain and the thrill of isolated heavy falls, possibly making us turn our attention to flash flooding in low-lying areas. Remember, if the rain starts feeling heavy, it’s probably time to rethink that picnic idea.
Gentle reminders: expect moderate to fresh northeasterly winds creating a bit of a breeze, so don’t let those gusts surprise you during those heavy falls! Seas are described as moderate to rough – they’re not quite raging, but definitely more than a gentle wave, so keep your sea legs ready!
As for Friday, a little more rain and thunderstorms are in the mix, particularly for Vanua Levu and the Yasawa and Mamanuca groups. Showers will eventually clear, probably once they realize they’ve overstayed their welcome.
Now, let’s get to the nitty-gritty for major areas:
**Navua/Suva/Nausori**: Expect occasional showers, isolated thunderstorms, and some heavy rain making its appearance later on!
**Today’s Max**: 32°C | **Tomorrow Min**: 25°C, **Max**: 32°C.
**Sigatoka/Coral Coast**: It seems you’ll also be sharing in those afternoon showers and might just hear some thunder.
**Today’s Max**: 33°C | **Tomorrow Min**: 23°C, **Max**: 33°C.
**Nadi/Lautoka/Ba**: Don’t get too comfortable with the partly cloudy skies; you could be getting some afternoon excitement with showers.
**Today’s Max**: 33°C | **Tomorrow Min**: 23°C, **Max**: 33°C.
And so on, across other regions like Tavua, Labasa, and Taveuni, where heavy showers will send everyone scrambling for cover!
In other words, if you were hoping for sunshine, you might have to settle for a little wet adventure. So put on those wellies, grab your favorite raincoat, and prepare for a week filled with showers – and not the glorious kind you find in a spa! Enjoy the rain while it lasts; it’s Fiji’s version of a water park attraction!
