Weather Update – October 19, 2025
Good morning, Fiji! Grab your umbrellas and raincoats because the weather is in a bit of a mood swing, and it looks like it might just rain cats and dogs for the next few days. A traveling trough of low pressure has decided to drop by for an extended visit, bringing along a friend or two: showers and thunderstorms.
Here’s what’s on the forecast for our beautiful islands until midnight tomorrow. So, first up, prepare for some occasional showers with the distinct possibility of isolated thunderstorms and heavy rainfall over Vanua Levu, Taveuni, and their smaller buddies in the Yasawa group. Looks like they’ll be soaking up more than just the sun!
In Viti Levu—specifically the Interior and eastern regions (from Sigatoka-Korolevu up through Nausori and all the way to Tailevu North)—you can expect cloudy skies with intermittent showers. Trust me, you might want to keep a rain dance handy for the afternoon or evening since there’s a chance of some hefty showers and thunder rumblings. Kadavu and its small island counterparts will join the show as well.
If you’re elsewhere, consider yourself partly cloudy with a side order of afternoon or evening showers and an occasional thunderstorm—very à la carte! Those localized heavy falls might just create some minor drama in low-lying areas, so be mindful of potential flash flooding.
Winds are moderate to fresh, whipping through from the east to northeast, and seas will be serving up moderate to rough conditions. So, if you’ve planned a boat trip, maybe reconsider unless you’re looking for an adventurous ride!
Here’s the breakdown for your specific areas:
For Navua, Suva, and Nausori: Expect cloudy periods with some sporadic showers. Keep your thunderstorm survival kit handy! Today’s high is a cozy 29°C.
Nadi, Lautoka, and Ba: Partly cloudy with an afternoon twitch of showers and thunderstorms on the side. Maxing out at a hot 30°C today, so stay hydrated!
Sigatoka/Coral Coast: Get ready for clouds and rain showers with possible heavy downpours. Today’s temperature will flirt with 29°C.
Tavua/Rakiraki: Also enjoying a bit of cloud cover with showers later in the day. A high of 30°C is on the horizon!
Yasawa/Mamanuca group: Same story of occasional showers and thunderstorms, with a manageable 29°C awaiting you.
Labasa and Savusavu: Don’t pack away those raincoats just yet! Occasional showers and thunderstorms in both zones, with labasa reaching a high of 29°C.
The islands of Lau and Lomaiviti, as well as Kadavu: You’ll share the cloudy and showery fate with your fellow islanders, reaching highs of around 29°C.
Over in Rotuma: You’re mostly cloudy with the same possibility of showers and isolated thunderstorms hitting highs around 30°C. Grab a piña colada and enjoy the breeze, but keep an eye out for the rain!
So there you have it, folks! Weather patterns are promising a few surprises. Prepare your rain gear like it’s a tropical fashion show, and let’s navigate through these rainy days together!
