A new 30-seater catamaran, named Gosal Cruisers, is set to be inaugurated at the Grand Eastern Hotel in Labasa, with the aim of enhancing local tourism and commerce on Fiji’s second-largest island, Vanua Levu. This catamaran, valued at $1 million and the first of its kind for the region, was imported from China.

Charan Jeath Singh, the owner of Gosal Cruisers and Fiji’s Sugar Minister, expressed excitement over the launch, stating that it would stimulate the local economy by providing opportunities for residents to sell food and cultural items, thus supporting their livelihoods. Singh referred to the launch as an early Christmas gift for the people of Vanua Levu, with services scheduled to commence on December 20, just in time for the holiday season.

Gosal Cruisers will operate daily, departing from the Grand Eastern Hotel jetty at 9:30 AM, offering sightseeing and cultural exchange experiences to various locations including Kia, Mali, Druadrua, Vorovoro, Savusavu, and nearby smaller islands. The vessel can accommodate a crew of three and boasts a cruising speed of approximately 35 knots.

This initiative not only promises to revitalize tourism in the region but also fosters community engagement and showcases the rich local culture. By enhancing accessibility to surrounding islands, the catamaran is set to create a wealth of opportunities for both tourists and local residents alike.

Overall, the launch of the Gosal Cruisers represents a promising endeavor for Vanua Levu, indicating a bright future for tourism and commerce in the area.
