For Emosi Diani, joining the Fiji Police Force goes beyond a mere career choice; it is a deeply held passion and a dream he envisioned years ago while employed at a manufacturing company in Nadi. After submitting his application last year, Diani, the oldest of five siblings, faced a period of uncertainty. When the first list of recruits was announced without his name, disappointment set in.

However, Diani’s perseverance paid off. This year, he received the prestigious Commissioner’s Award as the Dux of his training course, a testament to his dedication and hard work. Over the span of 16 weeks, he underwent rigorous training that tested his limits, yet he remained resolute and never considered giving up.

“I want to thank my parents for their support throughout my journey, and to my fellow comrades,” Diani expressed, acknowledging the important roles those around him played.

Hailing from a rural community, he emphasizes the importance of youth stepping up to create positive changes in their surroundings. Diani’s journey serves as an inspiring example for the next generation, encouraging them to take bold steps towards a brighter future.

His mother, Akanisi Marama, expressed immense joy at her son’s accomplishments, reminding him to uphold the values he learned at home. “We advised him to maintain the image of God, as taught to him and his siblings, and to serve with integrity and honesty always,” she said.

As part of the new recruitment initiative, Diani started his career as a special constable at the Police Mobile Unit in Suva. With his official title as a police constable secured, he is set to serve at the station for the next three years, committing himself to the safety and well-being of his community. Diani’s story not only highlights personal achievement but also serves as a beacon of hope for aspiring youths in Fiji.
