The Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) has officially opened its pre-season transfer window, which commenced on Monday and will remain open until the end of the month. This window allows football clubs and districts throughout the nation to submit requests for player transfers, as well as International Transfer Certificates (ITC) for athletes competing in both 11-a-side and futsal formats.

In a statement, Rohitesh Narayan, the Player Registration and Transfer manager, emphasized the necessity of adhering to established protocols throughout this period. He stressed that all transfers and registrations must align with the regulations set forth by the Fiji FA.

Narayan urged member associations to ensure the eligibility of players being transferred, taking into account any possible restrictions, contractual commitments, or registration criteria imposed by the Fiji FA. A notable regulation highlighted is that a player can only be transferred once per season, in accordance with clause 10.4(d) of the transfer regulations. Thus, players who transferred during the June window will not be eligible to transfer again in this window.

To facilitate the transfer process, Fiji FA requires that all applications include the proper documentation. This encompasses a district transfer certificate, which must be endorsed by the district president or secretary, a completed player registration form, and a $50 application fee. Narayan indicated that transfers will only be processed upon receipt of the necessary documents, and any application lacking proper paperwork within seven days will not be considered.

Additionally, Narayan cautioned that failing to follow these regulations could lead to disciplinary actions, with violators being summoned before the Player Status Committee. The Fiji FA is urging all involved parties to maintain transparency and adhere strictly to the guidelines throughout the transfer period.

The opening of the transfer window offers clubs an opportunity to strengthen their teams, and with clear regulations in place, it aims to foster fair play and competitive integrity within Fijian football.

This period is not just about player movement; it’s also a chance for clubs to strategize and enhance their performance ahead of the new season, creating an exciting build-up for both clubs and fans alike.
