The Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) has elected a new leadership team during its Congress at the headquarters in Vatuwaqa, Suva. Aiyaz Musa won the Vice President West position with 32 out of 49 votes, defeating Jitendra Kumar and Mun Sami Chetty, who received 10 and 7 votes respectively. Musa had previously resigned from the Fiji FA in August 2023 due to a conviction but was allowed to participate in the elections following a ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). However, his official commencement in the role will be on hold until further decisions are made regarding his ongoing arbitration case.

In the Vice President South election, former Suva FA president Ritesh Pratap emerged as the winner with 26 votes, while the incumbent Jitendra Reddy received 20 and Rewa’s Peter Cecil Singh garnered 3 votes. The Vice President Women’s seat saw Mere Veikata succeed in unseating the incumbent Susan Wise. Furthermore, Rayaz Khan from the Labasa Football Association was elected unopposed as Vice President North.

These elections mark a significant moment for the Fiji FA, demonstrating both a commitment to inclusivity and the desire for improved governance within the organization. The broad participation from the football community is indicative of a collective ambition to enhance administration and leadership representation in Fijian football, symbolizing a hopeful outlook for the sport’s future in the country.

The outcome of these elections reflects a significant opportunity for the Fiji FA to revitalize its leadership and steer the direction of football in Fiji toward further growth and development.
