The Embassy of the Republic of Fiji in Jerusalem has issued a security advisory for Fijian nationals in Israel in light of significant military developments involving the United States, Israel, and Iran. Ambassador Jesoni Vitusagavulu indicated that air defense systems and sirens have been activated across central and southern Israel due to ongoing threats.

Despite the recent missile and drone launches, Israel’s advanced multi-layered defense systems are functioning effectively, and the Embassy confirmed that all Fijian nationals remain safe. There have been no reported incidents impacting Fijian students in Ramat Negev or the staff and families of the Embassy in Jerusalem.

In response to the escalating situation, the Embassy has heightened its precautionary measures, advising all Fijians to adhere to shelter-in-place protocols and seek immediate refuge in reinforced safe rooms upon hearing sirens or receiving alerts. Nationals are encouraged to prepare emergency “go-bags” containing essential documents, medications, water, and other supplies to ensure their safety.

The Embassy also reiterated the importance of avoiding military installations, government buildings, and large gatherings, emphasizing the need to stay informed through official updates from Israel’s Home Front Command. Maintaining constant communication with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade in Suva and local security agencies, the Embassy urges Fijians to remain calm and support one another during this tense time.
