Fiji’s athletics team shone brightly on day two of the Pacific Mini Games, bringing home several medals and showcasing their talent in Palau. Notable performances included Sera Nasilivata, who secured a bronze medal in the women’s 100m sprint with a time of 12.20 seconds, as well as Waisake Tewa, who also earned bronze in the men’s 100m final.
Additionally, rising star Adi Ceva Lutumailagi, just 17 years old, claimed a silver medal in the women’s 800m. In field events, Reki Roberts and Waisale Inoke triumphed with gold medals in the women’s heptathlon and men’s octathlon, respectively. Para-athlete Naibili Vatunisolo added another gold to Team Fiji’s tally by winning in the women’s javelin event.
After two days of competition, Team Fiji currently holds the third position in the overall medal standings with an impressive haul of 18 gold, 24 silver, and 19 bronze medals. Tahiti leads with 53 golds, followed by Samoa in second with 27. As the competition continues, Team Fiji will take a break today before returning to the field tomorrow, with hopes high for further achievements.
